Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

WARNING: When the engine and exhaust system are hot, they can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until they are cool before removing or installing the exhaust system.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.




2. Remove in the order indicated in the table
3. Install in the reverse order of removal.

1. Use the SST to remove the HO2S.

Warm Up Three Way Catalytic Converter (RH) Removal Note







1. Remove the EGR pipe before removing the warm up three way catalytic converter (RH).

Warm Up Three Way Catalytic Converter (RH), Warm Up Three Way Catalytic Converter (LH) Installation Note

1. Tighten the bolts and nuts in the order shown.

Tightening torque: 16 - 22 N.m {1.6 - 2.3 kgf.m, 12 - 16 ft.lbf}

2. Install the EGR pipe after installing the warm up three way catalytic converter (RH).

1. Use the SST to install the HO2S.

Tightening torque: 29 - 49 N.m {3.0 - 5.0 kgf.m, 22 - 36 ft.lbf}
