Using Vacuum Pump
Whole system inspection1. Disconnect the vacuum hose between the purge solenoid valve and the catch tank from the purge solenoid valve.
2. Insert hose on the vacuum pump.
3. Connect the SSTs (NGS tester) to the DLC.
NOTE:
- The following conditions cancel the ON BOARD DEVICE CONTROL function:
- Ten minutes after the TRIGGER on the NGS tester is depressed.
- When engine is started.
- If the pressure in the EVAP control system exceeds 6.43 kPa {48.2 mmHg, 1.9 inHg}.
- Therefore, the following tests, Step 4 through 9, should be conducted under the following conditions.
- Within 10 minutes after TRIGGER on the NGS tester is depressed.
- Without starting the engine.
4. Select the ON BOARD DEVICE CONTROL of the GENERIC OBD-II FUNCTIONS and press TRIGGER.
5. Press CANCEL two times.
6. Select the PID/DATA MONITOR AND RECORD function on the NGS display.
7. Select the FTP PID.
8. Press the START to view PID.
9. Apply 1.7 kPa {13 mmHg, 0.5 inHg} vacuum. Vacuum should hold at the specified readings for a minimum of 2 minutes.
- If the FTP PID value does not hold, inspect the FTP sensor.
- If the fuel tank pressure sensor is okay, carry out the "Inspection from charcoal canister to purge solenoid valve".
