Fuel Pressure: Testing and Inspection

WARNING: Fuel line spills and leaks are dangerous. Fuel can ignite and cause serious injuries or death and damage. Fuel can also irritate skin and eyes. To prevent this, always complete the "Fuel Pressure Release Procedures". (Refer to BEFORE REPAIR PROCEDURE.)

Fuel Pressure Release

1. Complete the "BEFORE REPAIR PROCEDURE". (Refer to BEFORE REPAIR PROCEDURE.)

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.




3. Connect a fuel pressure gauge between the fuel filter (high-pressure side) and the fuel distributor. Install clamps as shown in the figure.
4. Connect the negative battery cable.
5. Start the engine and let it idle.
6. Carry out the intake-air system inspection. (Refer to ENGINE SYSTEM INSPECTION.)

7. Measure the fuel line pressure.

Specification
210 - 260 kPa {2.1 - 2.7 kg/sq.cm, 30 - 38 psi}

8. If not as specified, carry out the fuel system inspection. (Refer to ENGINE SYSTEM INSPECTION.)

9. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the pressure regulator.
10. Measure the fuel line pressure.

Specification
270 - 310 kPa {2.7 - 3.2 kg/sq.cm, 39 - 45 psi)

11. If not as specified, replace the pressure regulator.
12. Complete the "AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE". (Refer to AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE.)
