Fuel Tank Removal and Installation
FUEL TANK REMOVAL AND INSTALLATIONWARNING: Repairing a fuel tank that has not been properly steam cleaned can be dangerous. Explosion or fire may cause death or serious injury. Always properly steam clean a fuel tank before repairing it.
1. Level the vehicle.
2. Complete the "BEFORE REPAIR PROCEDURE". (Refer to SERVICE PRECAUTIONS.)
3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
4. Remove the rear seat cushion.
5. Remove the service hole cover and disconnect the fuel pump component connector.
6. Disconnect the fuel hose from the fuel pump and remove the fuel pump.
7. Siphon the fuel from the service hole by using a fuel drawing pump.
8. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
9. Install in the reverse order of removal.
Evaporative Hose, Breather Hose Installation Note
1. Push the ends of the fuel hoses, evaporative hoses, and breather hose onto the respective fittings.
Specification: 25 - 30 mm (0.99 - 1.18 in)
2. Be sure the hoses are not bent or twisted.
Joint Hose Installation Note
1. Push the ends of the joint hose onto the fitting.
Specification: 35 - 40 mm (1.38 - 1.57 in)
2. Install the clamps on the joint hose as shown.
3. Position the tabs of each clamp within the allowable range.
10. Complete the "AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE" (refer to SERVICE PRECAUTIONS.)
