Ignition Coil: Testing and Inspection

Primary Coil Winding Inspection
1. Disconnect the distributor 3-pin connector.




2. Measure the resistance between terminals A and B by using an ohmmeter.

Specification: 0.49-0.73 ohm @ 20°C (68°F)

3. If not as specified, replace the distributor.

Secondary Coil Winding
1. Disconnect the distributor 3-pin connector.
2. Remove the distributor cap.




3. Measure the resistance as shown in the figure by using an ohmmeter.

Specification: 20-31 k-ohms @ 20°C (68°F)

4. If not as specified, replace the distributor.
