Air Bag Control Module: Service and Repair

WARNING: Handling the SAS unit improperly can accidently deploy the air bag, which may seriously injure you. Read AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS before handling the SAS unit.

Passenger-side Air Bag Module Installation:




1. Carry out the "Before Servicing" procedure.
2. Drain the engine coolant.
3. Remove the dashboard.
4. Remove the heater unit.
5. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
6. Install in the reverse order of removal.

WARNING: New SAS units are not input with a deployment approval signal in order to prevent accidental deployment of the air bag module during installation. Since the SAS unit is not yet input with the deployment approval signal, the air bag system will not operate in the event of an accident, which may result in serious injury or death. Follow the procedures for inputting the deployment approval signal into the SAS unit after replacement.

7. Install the heater unit.
8. Install the dashboard.
9. Refill the engine coolant.
10. Carry out the "After Servicing" procedure.
Bracket Installation Note
^ If the bracket mounting area is damaged, repair the area to its original shape.

^ Position the SAS unit and bracket with the arrow on the SAS unit facing toward the front of the vehicle.

Nut Installation Note:

^ Tighten the nuts in the order shown
