Reading Diagnostic Trouble Codes

Diagnostic Trouble Code Inspection




1. Connect the Special Service Tools New Generation Star (NGS) tester to the data link connector 2.
2. Refer to the manufacturer-provided instruction manual for the NGS operation.

NOTE: Some DTCs are detected only when the engine is running. Before checking for DTCs, start the engine.

3. Start the engine.




4. Select "DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES" function and press TRIGGER.

5. When "NO CODES RECEIVED/SYSTEM PASSED" is displayed, all systems monitored are judged OK.
6. When any of the diagnostic trouble codes is displayed, carry out troubleshooting according to the code.
7. When "LINK MONITOR ERROR" is displayed, check connection of the NGS.
8. After all problems have been repaired, carry out "After repair procedure."
