Connecting Rod: Testing and Inspection

1. Measure each connecting rod bushing inner diameter. The measurement should range from 20.003-20.014 mm (0.7876-0.7879 inch).
2. Calculate the clearance between the connecting rod bushing and piston pin.The clearance should range from 0.010-0.027 mm (0.0004-0.0010 inch).






3. Check each connecting rod for the following, A bending range of 0.050 mm (0.0020 inch) with a 50 mm (1.97 inch) maximum, a distorsion range of 0.070 mm (0.0028 inch) with a 50 mm (1.97 inch) maximum and a length, (center to center) from 132.85-132.95 mm (5.231-5.234 inch). If the measurements do not fall under these ranges, replace the connecting rod. If the connecting rod is replaced, the connecting rod cap, bolts and nuts must also be replaced because they are a matched set.
