Idle Speed

PREPARATION
1. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
2. Shift the selector lever to park/neutral position.
3. Turn off all electrical loads.
- Headlight
- Blower motor
- Rear window defroster
- A/C
- Power steering

4. Wait until the cooling fan stops.

New Generation Star (NGS) Tester, Connected to DLC-2:




5. Connect the Special Service Tool (SST) New Generation Star (NGS) tester to the data link connector 2 and select the PID DATA MONITOR AND RECORD function.

IDLE SPEED
1. Perform "Preparation".
2. Verify that the idle speed is within the specification.

Specification: 600-700 (650 ± 50) rpm

DLC-1 Timing Jumper Location:




3. If not as specified, connect the Data Link Connector #1 terminals TEN and GND by using a jumper wire.

CAUTION: The throttle adjusting screw is set at the factory and must not be adjusted. Any adjustment will negatively effect the engine performance.

Idle Air Screw Adjustment:




4. Adjust the idle speed by turning the air adjusting screw.

Specification: 600-700 (650 ± 50) rpm

5. Disconned the jumper wire.
