Fuel Injector Resistance, Leakage, & Volume Tests

INSPECTION
Resistance

- Disconnect the fuel injector connectors.
- Measure the resistance of the fuel injectors.

Resistance: Approx. 13.8 ohms @ 20°C (68°F)

- If not as specified, replace the fuel injector.

Fuel Leakage Test
- Remove the fuel injectors together with the fuel distributor.
- Fasten the fuel injectors firmly to the fuel distributor with wire and connect the fuel hoses.

- Tilt the fuel injectors approx. 60 degrees from upright position as shown.

- Connect data link connector terminals F/P and GND by using a jumper wire.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON and check for fuel leaks from the fuel injectors.

Fuel leakage: Less than 1 drop/2 minutes

- Turn off the ignition switch and disconnect the jumper wire.
- If not as specified, remove the leaking fuel injector and reinstall the fuel injector, referring to Installation note.
- Recheck the fuel leakage. If not as specified, replace the fuel injector.

Volume Test
- Remove the fuel injectors together with the fuel distributor.
- Fasten the fuel injectors firmly to the fuel distributor with wire and connect the fuel hoses.

- Connect data link connector terminals F/P and GND by using a jumper wire.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Connect the SST as shown in the figure.

- Measure the injection volume of each fuel injector by using a graduated container.

Injection volume: 39 - 5O ml (1.4 - 1.6 fl. oz.) Per 15 Sec.

- Turn off the ignition switch and disconnect the jumper wire.
- If not as specified, replace the fuel injector.
