Timing Belt Removal








Upper Engine:








1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the right front wheel.
3. Remove the RH splash shield (1).
4. Remove the drive belt (2).
5. Remove the water pump pulley (3), the crankshaft pulley (4), and the spark plug wires (5).
6. Remove the valve cover (6) and the dipstick and tube brace (7).
7. Remove the upper timing belt cover (8).






8. Support the engine using SST 49 G017 5A0 or equivalent.
9. Remove the No.3 engine mount bracket (9).
10. Remove the middle (10) and lower (11) timing belt covers.






11. If the timing belt is to be reused, mark direction of rotation at this time.






12. Using SST 49 D011 102 or equivalent, remove the crank pulley lock bolt, crank pulley boss and timing belt.
13. Loosen the tensioner pulley lock bolt.






14. Pull the tensioner pulley in the direction of the arrow to reduce tension and remove the timing belt.
15. Remove the tensioner pulley and tensioner spring.
