DESCRIPTION
This system recirculates a small amount of exhaust gas into the intake manifold to reduce the combustion temperature and the NOx emissions.
This system consists of the EGR valve, EGR valve position sensor, two duty-solenoid valves, ECM, and input devices.

EGR Operating Conditions:

OPERATION
Cold engine (coolant temperature: below 55°C (131°F)).
EGR operation is stopped to improve driveablity when the engine is cold.

Warm engine:
The ECM controls the [1][2]EGR solenoid valves (vacuum and vent) to supply EGR gases as described in image.
