Pin Striping

Door Panels

1. If necessary, remove the pin stripe starting at one end or edge.

CAUTION:
Avoid damage to the exterior paint surface by not using pointed or sharp tools to remove the existing stripes.

2. Remove adhesive residue using kerosene, isopropyl alcohol or Pre-Kleano wax and a soft clean cloth.

NOTE:
Residue may be difficult to see and may still be present after removal attempts. To confirm that the residue is completely removed, use your hand to gently feel around the area where the residue was present.

3. Rinse the area with clean water and dry with a clean cloth.

4. Use a spray bottle to liberally spray the area with water.

5. Remove the adhesive release liner paper from the back of the pin stripe.

CAUTION:
USE HANDLING TABS when peeling the liner paper to expose the pin stripe's adhesive. Handling tabs will reduce the possibility of fingers contacting the pin stripe's adhesive surface.

6. Position the door pin strip's pre-mask tape extension top edge along the feature line at the top of the door.

7. While maintaining horizontal alignment, position the left and right edges of the pre-mask tape by locating the vertical side of the notches to the door panel edges. Refer to Fig. 6

NOTE:
Visually confirm alignment with the existing fender or quarter panel pin stripes for optimal appearance.

8. Use a plastic squeegee to affix the pin stripe to the vehicle.

^ Start at the center working from top to bottom and work out all water and air bubbles.

^ Squeegee to the left, toward the rear of the door.

^ Repeat the process from the center to the right, front of the door.

9. Carefully remove the pre-mask tape.

^ Grasp one end (front or rear).

^ Use a slow steady pulling motion.

^ Pull the pre-mask tape at approximately 180 degrees from the vehicle's surface.

CAUTION:
Confirm that the pin stripe is not lifting during pre-mask tape removal. Re-squeegee the pin stripe to assure that any loose edges adhere to the body.

10. Remove any blisters or air bubbles.

^ Use a sharp needle to pierce the bubble.

^ Use your thumb to press the pin stripe firmly against the body panel and work the air or water toward the hole.

11. Remove adhesive residue under the pre-mask area using isopropyl alcohol and a soft clean cloth.

Front Fender

1. Follow steps 1 through 5 for door panel pin stripe.

2. Position the alignment tab horizontally to the applied door pin stripe.

3. Align the vertical edge of the notches near the tab to the edge of the fender panel.

4. Align the forward part of the mask edge with the headlamp sheet metal edge.

NOTE:
Visually confirm alignment with the existing fender or quarter panel pin stripes for optimal appearance.

5. Use a squeegee to apply the pin stripe and remove any air bubbles or water, working forward to the headlamp area.

CAUTION:
DO NOT squeegee the tab area.

6. Carefully remove the pre-mask tape.

^ Grasp one end (front or rear).

^ Use a slow steady pulling motion.

7. Remove any blisters or air bubbles.

^ Use a sharp needle to pierce the bubble.

^ Use your thumb to press the pin stripe firmly against the body panel and work the air or water toward the hole.
