Gold Emblems, Mascot and Nameplate
REPLACEMENT GOLD KIT ITEMS
NOTE:
Install emblems only when ambient temperature or room temperature is 60 degrees (F) (15 degrees C) or above.
"V6", "Edition" or "M" Emblems
1. Mark existing location horizontally and vertically using masking tape. Refer to Fig. 1.
2. Wrap a shop towel around a large thin bladed putty knife and remove the appropriate emblem(s) by gently pry upward.
CAUTION:
Take care not to damage any exterior paint surfaces when removing emblems.
3. Remove adhesive residue and dirt from the area using isopropyl alcohol. Allow surface to dry.
4. Install new emblem.
^ Remove adhesive backing from new emblem.
^ Align the edges of the emblem along the horizontal and vertical masking tape guidelines.
^ Attach the emblem to the vehicle using even pressure.
5. Remove adhesive residue left from masking tape using isopropyl alcohol.
"MAZDA" Nameplate and "MX-6" Emblem
1. Remove nameplate or emblem using a thin bladed fiberstick.
2. Remove adhesive residue and dirt from the area using isopropyl alcohol. Allow surface to dry.
3. Confirm that "0-Rings" are installed around the locking clips.
4. Align the locking clips with the holes in the trunk lid.
5. Attach the emblem to the body.
Mazda Mascot
1. Mark existing location horizontally and vertically using masking tape. Refer to Fig. 1.
2. Wrap a shop towel around a large thin bladed putty knife and remove the mascot by gently pry upward.
CAUTION:
Take care not to damage any exterior paint surfaces when removing emblems.
3. Remove adhesive residue and dirt from the area using isopropyl alcohol. Allow surface to dry.
4. Confirm that "0-Rings" are installed around the locking clips.
5. Install new mascot.
^ Remove adhesive backing from new mascot.
^ Confirm that the mascot is installed in the correct direction. Refer to Fig. 3.
^ Align the locking clips with the holes in the hood.
^ Attach the mascot to the vehicle using even pressure.
6. Remove adhesive residue left from masking tape using isopropyl alcohol.
