IGNITION TIMING
1. Verify that the idle speed is within the specification.

Specification: 600 - 700 (650 ± 50) rpm

2. If not as specified, adjust the idle speed before proceding.
Idle Speed

DLC-1 Timing Jumper Location:




3. Connect the Data Link Connector (DLC1) terminals TEN and GND by using a jumper wire.

NOTE: The IGN- terminal can be used to check idle speed.

4. Verify that the idle speed is within the specification.

Specification: 550 - 750 rpm

5. If not as specified, adjust the idle speed.
6. Connect a timing light to the high-tension lead of No.1 cylinder.

Timing Marks:




7. Verify that the timing mark (yellow) is within the specification.

Specification: BTDC 9 - 11° (10 ± 1°)

Timing Adjustment:




8. If not as specified, loosen the distributor lock bolts and turn the distributor to make the adjustment.
9. Tighten the distributor lock bolts to the specified torque.

Tightening torque: 19 - 25 Nm (14 - 18 ft.lbs.)

10. Disconnect the jumper wire.
11. Verify that the ignition timing is within the specification.

Specification: BTDC 6 - 18°
