MIL ILLUMINATION AND DTC P0421 STORES IN MEMORY

APPLICABLE MODELS (VINs listed in Diagnostic Procedure)
1996 626 with a FS engine and an automatic transaxle.

DESCRIPTION





The MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light) may illuminate while driving. An NGS tester may snow the DTC P0421 is stored in memory. Customers complaining of the MIL illumination should have their vehicle inspected and if necessary, repaired according to this bulletin.

NOTE:
The diagnostic procedure for this DTC is not contained in the workshop manual. Please make a copy of this bulletin and place it in section F of the workshop manual.

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

1. Inspect the vehicle's VIN.
^ If the VIN is 1YVGE**C*T5529221 or lower, troubleshoot according to the attached procedure. If no problem is found, replace the ECM according to the Parts Information.
^ If the VIN is 1YVGE**C*T5529222 or higher, troubleshoot according to the attached procedure. If no problem is found, contact the your Regional Q/A Hotline.

NOTE:
In some cases, replacing the ECM may not correct the concern. Thorough diagnostic is required. If the MIL is still illuminating, contact your Regional Q/A Hotline.
