Engine - Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch: Testing and Inspection

Removal/Installation

NOTE: When the engine coolant temperature sensor is difficult to remove, remove the cylinder head cover (RH).




1. Remove the engine coolant temperature sensor by using the SST.
2. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Tightening torque: 15.7-23.5 N-m (139-208 in-lb)

Inspection
1. Remove the engine coolant temperature sensor.
2. Place the sensor in the water with a thermometer and heat the water gradually.




3. Measure the resistance of the sensor by using an ohmmeter.




4. If not as specified, replace the engine coolant temperature sensor.
