Using Malfunction Indicator (MIL)

On-Board Diagnosis System
Inspection by Diagnostic Test Mode
^ The ABS control unit contains on-board diagnosis and memory functions to detect and indicate present and past failures.
Read and note the diagnostic indications by using the SST and take action according to the Diagnostic Trouble Code Table.
^ The ABS control unit has a nonvolatile memory. Diagnostic trouble codes are not erased if the battery is disconnected. The memory should be cleared when servicing is finished.

Inspection Using ABS Warning Light
The following procedures can be used when only past failure(s) exists. If a present failure exists, the warning light stays on, and the SST must be used.
1. Connect the TBS terminal to GND at the data link connector by using a jumper wire.
2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

3. After the warning light illuminates for three seconds, the warning light indicates service code(s).
4. Read and note code number(s) and check for the causes by referring to the related diagnostic trouble code chart(s).
