KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM MALFUNCTION

APPLICABLE MODELS/VINs

1995 Millenia vehicles with a VIN of JM1TA22**S1140756 and lower.

DESCRIPTION

The "Keyless Entry" system may not function if used in a garage with a remote garage door opener.

The two operating frequencies interfere with each other. The keyless remote system is redesigned to prevent this problem.

If a customer complains of this problem, replace the keyless unit transmitter and short cord with a modified kit.

NOTE:
If additional remote transmitters are needed program those according to the instructions in the workshop manual.

REPAIR PROCEDURES

1. Remove rear seat. Refer to Fig. 1.

2. Locate keyless unit.

3. Remove the original keyless unit. Refer to Fig 2.

4. Install the new keyless unit and new short cord. Refer to Fig. 3

NOTE:
New short cord must be installed.

5. Tape the keyless unit's harness to the rear main harness. This will prevent noise from interference with other parts.

7. Install rear seat. Tighten installation bolts to 17- 25 Nm (1.7-2.6 Kg-fm, 13-18 ft-lbs)
