DESCRIPTION
This system recirculates a small amount of exhaust gas into the [1][2]intake manifold to reduce the combustion temperature and reduce the NOx emissions.
The primary components of the EGR system are the EGR valve, EGR valve position sensor, two duty-solenoid valves, ECM, and input devices.

OPERATION - Cold Engine
With engine coolant temperature below 55°C (131°F), the EGR operation is stopped to improve driveability when the engine is cold.




OPERATION - Warm Engine
The ECM control the EGR solenoid valves (vacuum side and vent side) to supply EGR gases as described in the image.
