Camshaft Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION
1. Remove the camshaft position sensor.
2. Verify that the ignition control module connector is disconnected.




3. Connect the camshaft position sensor connector shown in figure.
4. Disconnect the fuel injector connector.
5. Turn the ignition switch to ON.




6. Connect the SSTs (Special Service Tool) to the ECM (Engine Control Module).







7. Rotate the sensor drive by hand and measure the output voltage.




8. After the inspection, install the camshaft position sensor.
9. Start the engine and adjust the ignition timing.

Ignition timing: BTDC 9°-11° (10° ± 1°)

10. Tighten the camshaft position sensor lock bolt to the specified torque.

Tightening torque: 19-25 N m (14-18 ft.lb)
