Electric Load Sensor: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
The electric load sensor is an internally functioning feature of the engine control module (ECM). The ECM monitors certain inputs connected to electrical accessory circuits. If any of the monitored circuits are operated the ECM judges the circuit as an electrical load and can adjust ECM output signals to compensate for the additional load. This results in smoother engine operation especially at idle.

OPERATION
ECM monitored circuits for E/L Operation (Electric Load):
- Coolant fan relay Internally monitored
- Headlight ECM terminal 1U
- Blower motor ECM terminal 1S
- Rear window defroster ECM terminal 2I
