TURBINE SPEED SENSOR (TSS) REPLACEMENT
(Possible Mis-Match To Pump Mounting Surface)

APPLICABLE MODELS
1995 626/ MX-6 meeting ALL of the following criteria.
^ LA44 A-EL Transaxle
^ 4 Cylinder Engine
^ Transmission Build Date between Dec. 1994 and Feb. 1995 (Transaxle Numbers 43350467 to 43370105 and 43410230 to 43420326)





^ TSS sensors with a "YELLOW" dot and pumps with an "ORANGE" dot. Refer to Fig. 1.

NOTE:
TSS sensor and pump markings can be viewed from the vehicle underside. No disassembly is required.

DESCRIPTION

Some vehicles may have a pump body with a mounting surface that is not compatible with the TSS sensor. The TSS sensor for mass production were modified to seat properly and avoid clearance concerns between the reverse clutch hub and/or the pump body.

Transmission related customer concerns requiring transmission pump or TSS sensor replacement must be inspected and/or replaced using the procedure below.

NOTE:
This bulletin is only applicable to vehicles meeting all of the above criteria. Vehicles outside of this criteria should be repaired according to the workshop manual and current policies and procedures.

INSPECTION and REPAIR PROCEDURE

Inspect the vehicle for all criteria listed above.

^ If the vehicle meets all of the criteria and either the TSS sensor or pump requires replacement, replace the transaxle with a remanufactured transaxle.

^ If the TSS sensor requires replacement but the transaxle number is not listed above, replace only the TSS sensor. The clearance concern is not present.
