6-Port Induction (6PI) System
6-Port Induction (6PI) System:
The 6-Port Induction (6PI) System varies the size and location of the combustion chamber intake port to maintain torque and efficient engine operation at both low and high operating speeds. The system utilizes a rotating auxiliary port valve and actuator in the intake manifold for each combustion chamber. An ECU activated solenoid valve regulates air pressure from the air pump to the actuator, controlling system operation.
At engine speeds below 3850 rpm, the solenoid valve is not activated and the auxiliary port valve is open to the auxiliary port. As engine speed increases beyond 3850 rpm, the ECU energizes the solenoid valve to direct air pump air pressure to the actuator. With varying air pressure according to engine speed, the actuator rotates the auxiliary port valve to open the primary and secondary ports as required for different rpm ranges.
