Ignition Cable: Description and Operation
Ignition wires conduct high secondary voltage from the coil to the
distributor and then to each
spark plug in proper sequence (
firing order). These wires are constructed with a carbon impregnated, multi-filament synthetic fiber core. To endure under hood temperatures, the core is surrounded by heat resistant rubber insulation. Built-in internal resistance (16K ohms per meter) functions to suppress radio static and eliminate interference with computerized components and sensors.
