Air/Fuel Mixture: Adjustments
Fig. 28 Connecting jimper wire to intial set terminal.:
NOTE: Before adjusting the idle mixture follow these directions:
1. Turn off all electrical accessories.
2. Connect tachometer to engine.
3. Start engine and run until it reaches normal operating temperature.
4. Connect jumper wire to terminals of initial set coupler Fig. 28.
Fig. 29 Connecting tachometer.:
NOTE: Connect tachometer to service coupler (black wire, black connector) at trailing side coil with igniter Fig. 29. If tachometer does not function correctly on trailing side coil with igniter, reconnect at leading side coil with igniter (black wire terminal). If using an inductive (secondary pickup) type tachometer, connect it only at the trailing side high tension leads.

5. Check and adjust throttle sensor (refer to "COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS").
6. On non turbo models remove blind cap and adjust idle speed to 750 rpm by turning air adjust screw, Fig. 30.

7. On turbo models remove the blind cap from the BAC valve and adjust the idle speed to 750 rpm by turning the air adjust screw Fig. 27.
Fig. 32 Adjusting variable resistor.:
8. Set the idle speed to the highest rpm by turning the variable resistor Fig. 32.
9. Reset the idle speed to the to 750 rpm by adjusting air adjust screw.
10. Install blind cap and disconnect jumper wire from initial set coupler.
