Headliner: Service and Repair
HEADLINERRemoval
1. Remove driver and passenger front seats.
2. Disconnect the interior rear view mirror electrical connector.
3. If equipped, remove the rain sensor cover and disconnect the electrical connector.
4. Remove the 6 screws and the sun visors.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
5. Remove the 2 screws and the sun visor clips.
6. If equipped, remove the 3 passenger assist handles.
- Position the 6 screw covers aside.
- Remove the 6 screws.
- If equipped, disconnect the electrical connector.
7. Remove the 2 A-pillar trim panels.
8. Position the upper portion of the door weatherstrip seals aside.
9. Position the 2 upper B-pillar trim panels aside.
10. Position the 2 quarter trim panels aside.
11. CAUTION: Folding the headliner will result in damage to the headliner.
NOTE: For vehicles without a roof opening panel, use a plastic scraper to detach the headliner from the roof.
Release the map lamp clips and lower the headliner.
12. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
13. Remove the headliner from the left rear door opening.
Installation
Installing a new headliner
1. CAUTION: Folding the headliner will result in damage to the headliner.
Carefully position the headliner in the vehicle.
2. NOTE: Adhesive is required for vehicles without a roof opening panel. Adhesive must be applied in two parallel beads with a third bead applied on top to ensure proper contact and adhesion.
Apply 3 beads of headliner adhesive to the headliner following the existing pattern.
3. Connect the electrical connectors.
4. Install the headliner.
- Press the headliner against the roof to make sure the adhesive contacts both surfaces.
Installing an existing headliner
5. CAUTION: Folding the headliner will result in damage to the headliner.
Carefully position the headliner in the vehicle.
6. Bend the tabs of the rear locator back into their original position.
7. NOTE: Adhesive is required for vehicles without a roof opening panel. Adhesive must be applied in two parallel beads with a third bead applied on top to ensure proper contact and adhesion.
Apply 3 beads of headliner adhesive to the headliner following the existing pattern.
8. Connect the electrical connectors.
9. Install the headliner.
- Press the headliner against the roof to make sure the adhesive contacts both surfaces.
New or existing headliner
10. Install the quarter trim panels.
11. Install the 2 upper B-pillar trim panels.
12. Install the 2 A-pillar trim panels.
13. Position the sun visor clips and install the 2 screws.
14. Connect the electrical connectors, position the sun visors, and install the 6 screws.
15. If equipped, position the 3 assist handles and install the 6 screws.
- If equipped, connect the electrical connector.
- Install the 6 screw covers.
16. Install the door weatherstrips.
17. If equipped, connect the rain sensor electrical connector and install the cover.
18. Connect the interior rear view mirror electrical connector.
19. Install driver and passenger front seats.
