Throttle Body: Service and Repair
THROTTLE BODYREMOVAL
WARNING: Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related components. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited, resulting in possible personal injury.
CAUTION: The throttle body bore and plate area have a special coating and cannot be cleaned.
1. Remove the resonator and tube.
2. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connectors.
3. Disconnect the throttle return spring, accelerator cable and the speed control actuator cable.
4. NOTE: Discard the throttle body (TB) gasket.
Remove the four bolts and the throttle body.
INSTALLATION
1. Install a new TB gasket, the throttle body and the bolts.
- Tighten the bolts in two stages.
- Stage 1: Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
- Stage 2: Rotate an additional 90 degrees.
2. Connect the accelerator cable, the speed control actuator cable and the throttle return spring.
3. Connect the TP sensor electrical connectors.
4. Install the resonator and tube.
