Accelerator Pedal and Shaft - Adjustable

ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND SHAFT - ADJUSTABLE

REMOVAL

CAUTION: The adjustable pedal system must be indexed whenever the brake pedal assembly or the accelerator pedal assembly is serviced.

NOTE: Non-memory pedal shown, memory pedal similar.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.







2. Remove the instrument panel close-out panel.
1 Remove the three pushpins from the areas shown.
2 Turn the lamp socket counterclockwise to disconnect it from the close-out panel.







3. Remove accelerator cable from the accelerator pedal and shaft assembly.







4. Disconnect the adjustable drive cable from the brake pedal and shaft assembly.







5. Disconnect the drive motor electrical connector.







6. Remove the two nuts and remove the accelerator pedal and shaft assembly.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION: Before driving the vehicle, check that the engine returns to idle after depressing the accelerator.







1. Install the accelerator pedal and shaft assembly and the two nuts.







2. Connect the drive motor electrical connector.







3. Attach the accelerator cable to the accelerator pedal and shaft assembly.
4. Connect the battery ground cable.
5. Index the adjustable brake and accelerator pedals.







6. Install the instrument close-out panel.
1 Turn the lamp socket clockwise to connect it to the close-out panel.
2 Insert the pushpins in locations shown.
