Special Tools

Inspection and Verification
1. Verify the customer concern by operating the tilt/telescope switch to duplicate the condition.

2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.
3. If inspection reveals obvious concern(s) that can be readily identified, repair as required.
4. If the concern remains after the inspection, connect diagnostic tool to the Data Link Connector (DLC) located beneath the instrument panel to carry out diagnostic tool data link test. Refer to Information Bus (Module Communications Network). If the self-test is passed for the Instrument Cluster Module (ICM), retrieve the continuous Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
5. If Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are retrieved, go to the Instrument Cluster Module (ICM) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index to continue diagnostics. Diagnostic Trouble Code Tests and Associated Procedures
6. If the self-test is passed and no DTCs are retrieved, GO to Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
7. If the ICM cannot be accessed by the diagnostic tool, refer to the instrument cluster diagnostics for further instructions.
