Steering Gear Insulator
1. With the wheel normally loaded (on the ground), check the steering gear housing lot excessive lateral movement.
^ If the steering gear housing moves more than 1.5 mm (0.05 inch). the steering gear insulators may have deteriorated or the steering gear recounting nuts may have loosened. INSTALL new steering gear mounting nuts and tighten to specification.
^ If the steering gear housing movement is still excessive after tightening the gear mounting nuts, install new steering gear insulators.
