Principles of Operation (How Does It Work?)

Anti-Theft Perimeter Protection Feature
The anti-theft perimeter protection feature is controlled by the Front Electronic Module (FEM), the Rear Electronic Module (REM), and the Driver Door Module (DDM). The alarm can be armed using the LOCK button in the remote transmitter to the DDM, which sends a message through the Standard Corporate Protocol (SCP) communications network to the FEM; or by using the driver or passenger door lock switch if the corresponding door is open when LOCK is actuated; or by locking the vehicle with the key in the driver door lock cylinder. The FEM and REM will then monitor all features, which will activate the alarm. These are:
^ all door ajar switches
^ hood and luggage compartment lid ajar switches
^ ignition switch

The luggage compartment key cylinder will not disarm the vehicle's perimeter alarm. The luggage compartment alarm can be temporarily inhibited through the luggage compartment lid disarm switch, located in the luggage compartment lock key cylinder. Once the luggage compartment closes, the perimeter alarm system will immediately start monitoring the luggage compartment. The perimeter alarm can only be disarmed using the remote transmitter or the driver door lock cylinder switch, or by cycling to RUN a valid programmed key in the ignition switch.

Additionally, a single security hardwire from the FEM to the REM is monitored for an open.

If any of the above features receive any activation once the alarm has been armed, the alarm will activate the visual and audible alerts.
