ISSUE
Some vehicles may exhibit a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminated due to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1572 (Brake Pedal Switch Circuit Fault) stored in memory. This DTC may be caused by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) calibration.
ACTION
If normal diagnostics cannot pinpoint the condition and no other concerns are found, reprogram the PCM. Refer to PCM Calibration Information Chart shown.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Perform normal diagnostics for P1572 DTC. Verify that P1572 DTC is not the result of the Brake Pedal Position Switch (brake light switch), Brake Pressure Switch (speed control deactivation switch), wiring, or adjustment of the switches.
Obtain an Authorized Modifications Decal (FPS 8262 - obtainable through DOES II, 25/pkg) and list the date, dealer number, and summary of modifications performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications Decal. Clean the area, install the decal, and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
