Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Set the parking brake.
2. Place the transaxle range selector lever is NEUTRAL.
3. Disconnect the battery ground cable.





4. Remove the engine air cleaner inlet tube.
1. Remove the crankcase ventilation tube.
2. Disconnect the Intake Air Temperature Sensor (IAT sensor).
3. Disconnect the engine air cleaner inlet tube.





5. Remove the manual control lever cable.
1. Remove the nut.
2. Remove the manual control lever cable.





6. Remove the manual control lever.
1. Remove the nut.
2. Remove the manual control lever.





7. Remove the digital Transmission Range (TR) sensor.
1. Disconnect the digital TR sensor.
2. Remove the bolts.
3. Remove the digital TR sensor.

INSTALLATION
1. Verify that the shift selector lever is is NEUTRAL.





2. Install the digital TR sensor and loosely install the bolts.





3. Align the digital Transmission Range (TR) sensor.
1. Align the digital transmission range sensor with the digital transmission range (TR) sensor tool.
2. Tighten the bolts.





4. Connect the electrical connector.





5. Install the manual control lever and nut.
1. Install the manual control lever and place it in the overdrive position.
2. Tighten the nut.





6. Install the manual control lever cable.
1. Install the shift actuator cable fitting and the shift cable.
2. Hold the manual control lever in the overdrive position.
3. Tighten the nut.





7. Install the engine air cleaner inlet tube.
1. Install the engine air cleaner inlet tube.
2. Reconnect the intake air temperature sensor.
3. Reconnect the crankcase ventilation tube.
8. Connect the battery ground cable.
9. Check for proper vehicle operation.
