Flow of Diagnosis
1. Verify the customer's concern by operating the power seat(s) to duplicate the condition.2. Inspect to determine if one of the following mechanical or electrical concerns apply:
VISUAL INSPECTION CHART
Mechanical
^ Front seat tracks obstructed.
^ Seat at limit(s) of travel.
Electrical
^ Open fuse junction panel Fuses 39 (10 A), 41 (20 A), and 28 (10 A).
^ Open power distribution box Fuse 13 (30 A).
^ Loose, corroded or damaged connectors.
^ Damaged switches.
^ Damaged motors.
3. If the inspection reveals obvious concern(s) that can be readily identified, repair as required.
4. If the concern remains after the inspection, connect the New Generation Star (NGS) Tester to the Data Link Connector (DLC) located beneath the instrument panel and select the vehicle to be tested from the NGS menu. If the NGS does not communicate with the vehicle:
^ check that the program card is properly inserted
^ check the connections to the vehicle
^ check the ignition switch position
If the NGS still does not communicate with the vehicle, refer to the New Generation Star Tester manual.
5. Perform the Data Link Diagnostic Test using the NGS. If the NGS responds with:
^ CKT914 and CKT915 = ALL MODULE NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, go to Communication System Diagnostics in Information Bus to diagnose the network concern.
^ NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for the Driver Seat Module (DSM), go to Pinpoint Test B. Test B: No Communication With Driver Seat Module - Unable to Perform Self-Test
^ NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for the Driver Door Module (DDM), go to Pinpoint Test A. Test A: No Communication With Driver Door Module - Unable to Perform Self-Test
^ If the DSM is not listed for a communication concern, turn the ignition switch to run, retrieve and record the continuous Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), erase the continuous DTCs, then execute the Self-Test diagnostics for the DSM. If the DSM exits the diagnostic state during the self-test and returns to a normal operating state, go to Pinpoint Test B. Test B: No Communication With Driver Seat Module - Unable to Perform Self-Test
^ If the DDM is not listed for a communication concern, turn the ignition switch to RUN, make sure all doors are closed, retrieve and record the continuous Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), erase the continuous DTCs, then execute the Self-Test diagnostics for the DDM. If the DDM exits diagnostic state during the self-test and returns to normal operating state, go to Pinpoint Test A. Test A: No Communication With Driver Door Module - Unable to Perform Self-Test
6. If the DSM DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to the Driver Seat Module (DSM) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index Driver Seat Module (DSM) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index to continue the diagnostics.
7. If the DDM DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to the Driver Door Module (DDM) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index Driver Door Module (DDM) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index to continue the diagnostics.
8. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures to continue diagnostics.
