Installation

1. Install instrument panel to vehicle. With an assistant, place ends of instrument panel onto studs. Install two mounting nuts finger tight. Engage nine retainers at top edge of instrument panel.

NOTE: Two technicians are required for installation of instrument panel to the vehicle.





2. Install six bolts retaining instrument panel to upper dash panel. Tighten bolts to 10-14 N.m (89-124 lb.in).
3. At LH side of instrument panel, install nut retaining instrument panel to cowl stud and nut retaining brake hose support bracket to half car beam. Tighten nuts to 10-14 N.m (89-124 lb-in).
4. At RH side of instrument panel, install nut retaining instrument panel to cowl stud. Tighten nut to 10-14 N.m (89-124 lb-in).





5. Install two nuts retaining center of instrument panel to floor tunnel mounting brackets. Tighten nuts to 10-14 N.m (89-124 lb-in).
6. Connect automatic temperature control sensor and wiring harness connectors to instrument panel A/C evaporator housing area.
7. Install radio antenna lead in cable to radio chassis. Connect any vacuum hoses disconnected for removal.





8. Connect electrical connectors in RH cowl area.
9. Install glove compartment door by connecting glove compartment door checks. Close glove compartment door.
10. Connect engine control sensor wiring wiring to instrument panel.





11. Connect body main wiring at connector located left of steering column tube. Tighten screw to 5-7 N.m (46-83 lb-in).





12. Connect all steering column switch connectors.
13. Install upper and lower steering column shrouds.





14. Install nuts retaining steering column tube to steering column bracket insulator. Tighten nuts to 13-17 N.m (9-13 lb-ft).
15. Install A/C recirculating air duct below steering column tube.





16. Install LH and RH instrument panel lower insulators.
17. Push upper edge of instrument panel steering column cover into place. Install two screws retaining instrument panel steering column cover to instrument panel.
18. Install ignition/shifter interlock cable to pawl on gearshift lever in console panel.
19. Install A/C evaporator register duct from instrument panel to console panel.
20. Install console panel.
21. Install LH cowl side trim panel and cowl side trim panel.
22. Install lamp to instrument panel insulator and install instrument panel insulator to instrument panel.
23. Install screws retaining LH and RH instrument panel tower insulator under instrument panel.
24. Connect light sensor amplifier to instrument panel defroster opening grille.
25. Install instrument panel defroster opening grille by snapping retainers into place.





26. Install LH and RH roof side inner front moulding by pressing clips into place.





27. Install three screws retaining LH and RH front door scuff plates.
28. Install front door weatherstrip to body flange on each side.





29. Connect main instrument panel wiring connectors.





30. In engine compartment, connect main wiring harness connector at LH side dash panel. Tighten connector bolt to 4-6 N.m (35-53 lb-in).
31. Connect battery ground cable.
32. Install/connect any other components removed/disconnected for removal of instrument panel.
33. Test all instrument panel gauges and controls for proper operation.
