Front Door Window Regulator: Service and Repair

Removal

1. If front door window glass is in the down position and is inoperable, the following steps must be taken; if front door window glass is operational, proceed to Step 2.

a. Remove front door trim panel and front door trim shield. Doors

b. Mark inner door panel and drill three holes 12.7mm (0.5 inch) as shown.


CAUTION:
Be careful not to drill through the mechanism behind inner door panel.



c. Remove front door power window regulator minus motor retaining screws through holes.



CAUTION:
Be careful not to strike or scratch front door window glass



d. Remove front door power window regulator minus motor off mounting bracket through access hole.

e. Remove window regulator electric drive from front door power window regulator minus motor.

f. Raise front door window glass to full up position by hand and secure with a clamp.

g. Proceed to Step 4.

2. Remove front door trim panel and front door trim shield.

3. Remove front door window glass.

4. Disconnect window regulator electric drive wiring connector.

5. Remove three 1/4-inch rivets attaching window regulator electric drive to inner panel and two 6.35mm (1/4-inch) rivets attaching lower bracket of front door power window regulator minus motor to inner panel. Use drift punch to knock out center pins for each rivet. Using a 6.35mm (1/4-inch) diameter drill, drill out remainder of rivet.

NOTE:
Use care not to enlarge sheet metal holes in the door
inner panel.

6. Remove two upper front door power window regulator minus motor retaining nuts.

7. Remove front door power window regulator minus motor from front door.


Installation

1. Lubricate front door power window regulator minus motor with Teflon� Lubricant E7FZ-19590-A (ESB-M1C111-A) or equivalent.

2. Install front door power window regulator minus motor into access hole in inner panel.

3. Position front door power window regulator minus motor using upper front door power window regulator minus motor studs and tabs on window regulator electric drive mounting bracket.

4. Install rivets attaching front door power window regulator minus motor to door inner panel (1/4-20 X 1/2 inch screw and 1/4-20 nut and washer assemblies or equivalent metric fasteners may be used as alternates).

5. Install two upper front door power window regulator minus motor retaining nuts.

6. Install front door window glass.

7. Adjust front door window glass.

8. Install front door trim shield and front door trim panel. Doors
