Accelerator Cable

REMOVAL and INSTALLATION

Accelerator Cable:

1. Using a suitable tool, push the accelerator cable nylon bushing out of the accelerator pedal and shaft arm.

2. Remove accelerator cable housing from dash panel by removing two retaining screws and pushing outward from inside passenger compartment.

3. Remove speed control actuator, if equipped.

4. Disconnect the accelerator cable at the throttle body throttle lever by inserting a screwdriver between the accelerator cable and the throttle lever and giving a twist.

5. Remove the accelerator cable housing to engine mounting bracket retaining screw.

NOTE: Refer to Testing and Inspection / Procedures / Accelerator Cable Symptoms for diagnosis of the accelerator pedal and shaft after the disconnection of the accelerator cable from the throttle body throttle lever ball stud.

6. To install reverse removal procedure and ensure accelerator cable movement is not restricted. Tighten accelerator cable to engine mounting bracket screw to 5.2-7.2 Nm (46-64 lb in). Tighten accelerator cable to dash panel screws to 2.7-3.7 Nm (24-33 lb in).
