Removal and Installation
REMOVAL1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove defroster grille by pulling upward to unsnap six clips and disconnect wiring.
3. Open glove compartment door and unsnap glove box damper wire.
4. Press sides inward and lower glove compartment assembly toward floor.
5. Through glove box opening, remove automatic temperature sensor hose from blower assembly. Disconnect electronic automatic temperature control vacuum lines.
6. Remove five push pins from RH and LH lower instrument panel insulators. Remove instrument panel insulators.
7. For traction assist equipped vehicles, disconnect traction assist switch connector.
8. Remove three screws retaining lower instrument panel steering column cover and remove cover.
9. Remove five screws retaining lower instrument panel steering column reinforcement. Remove reinforcement.
10. Remove steering column.
11. Disconnect hood and brake release cables.
12. Remove screw at steering column opening, retaining instrument panel to dash brace.
13. Disconnect LH main wiring and RH main wiring bulkhead connectors from main wiring harness.
14. Remove three screws retaining instrument panel assembly to cowl top.
15. Remove console.
16. Remove two screws retaining steering column mounting support to NVH brace.
17. On LH cowl side, remove two instrument panel retaining bolts and loosen captive bolt.
18. On RH cowl side, remove one instrument panel retaining bolt.
19. With an assistant, remove instrument panel assembly from vehicle.
INSTALLATION
1. To install instrument panel, reverse Removal procedure.
2. Check air bag indicator operation.
