SUSPENSION - FRONT AND REAR - IMPROPER VEHICLE ATTITUDE - HEIGHT SENSOR WATER ENTRY - VEHICLES BUILT THROUGH 3/1/93

LINCOLN-MERCURY:
1993 MARK VIII

ISSUE:
Improper vehicle attitude with the rear suspension low and the front high may be caused by water entry into the height sensor.

ACTION:
Replace all height sensors with upgraded height sensors which have improved sealing. Refer to the following procedure for service details.

1. Verify that the concern exists.

2. Let the vehicle sit for ten minutes and then start vehicle.

3. If the vehicle comes to a level attitude, the height sensors are not malfunctioning.

4. Perform normal diagnostics.

5. If the vehicle stays at the undesirable attitude, repeat steps 2 and 3.

6. If the concern still exists, replace all the height sensors (F3LY-5359-C front and F3LY-5359-D, rear). The new design sensors have a gray wire protector versus a black wire protector on the old design height sensors. Refer to the 1993 Mark VIII Service Manual, Page 04-05A-83 for removal and installation procedures.
