Throttle Cable/Linkage: Adjustments

FREE PLAY

1. Verify that the throttle valve is fully closed.

2. Measure the free play at the accelerator pedal. Free play should be 1.5-4.5 mm (0.060-0.180 inch).

3. If adjustment is necessary, turn stopper B while pressing lock button A to release the lock.

4. Push the spring (C) towards lock button (A) and adjust the cable free play.

5. After the proper free play is achieved, lock the stopper (B), then the lock button (A).

6. Adjust the wide open throttle position.

DEFLECTION

1. Slide the boot down to expose the accelerator cable.

2. Measure the accelerator cable deflection. The deflection should be 1-3 mm (0.040-0.120 inch).

3. If necessary, loosen the locknuts and adjust the cable tension. Tighten the locknuts after the proper deflection is achieved.

4. Slide the boot up over the accelerator cable.

5. Adjust the wide open throttle position.

WIDE-OPEN THROTTLE POSITION

WOT Position:






1. Adjust the accelerator cable deflection.

2. Depress the accelerator to the floor.

3. Confirm that the throttle plate is in the wide-open position in the throttle body.

4. If necessary, loosen the locknut and adjust the pedal stop on the pedal bracket.

5. Tighten the locknut after the adjustment is completed.
