Trunk / Liftgate Motor: Description and Operation

When the Trunk Lid is opened, the Trunk Lid Pull-down Switches change positions to drive the striker up. When the Trunk Lid is lowered and latched, the Pull-down Switches change position and the Trunk lid Pull-down Switch remains closed. This allows the Trunk Lid Pull-down Motor to run and to pull the lid closed. When the lid is closed, the Trunk Lid Pull-down Switch opens, stopping the motor.
