Safing Sensor: Service and Repair
RemovalWARNING: THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT NECESSARY FOR SYSTEM DEPLOYMENT IS POWERED DIRECTLY FROM THE BATTERY. TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY, THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE MUST BE DISCONNECTED PRIOR TO SERVICING OR REPLACING ANY SYSTEM COMPONENTS.
1. Disconnect positive battery cable.
2. Remove hood release handle and parking brake assembly.
3. Remove LH cowl side trim panel.
4. Remove two screws retaining rear sensor to cowl side.
5. Remove rear sensor from inside cowl side.
6. Disconnect the rear sensor wiring connector from wiring assembly connector (near fuse panel), disconnect wiring locator and remove sensor.
Installation
1. Route sensor wiring through cowl and connect electrical connector. Install wiring locator.
2. Position sensor to inside of cowl and secure with retaining screws. Tighten to 10.2-13.8 N.m (91-122 lb-in).
3. Install cowl trim panel.
4. Install parking brake assembly and hood release handle.
5. Connect positive battery cable.
6. Verify air bag indicator.
