With Anti-Theft

The Remote/Keyless Entry System includes a five-button Keyless Entry Switch Assembly, a four-button transmitter, an antenna, and a Keyless Entry Module, which controls the Door Lock Motors and Trunk Lid Release Solenoid. The Module is controlled by either the Keyless Entry Switch Assembly, mounted on the outside panel of the driver's door, or by the handheld transmitter.

Entering the correct five-digit code into the Keyless Entry Switch Assembly will unlock the driver's door. Pressing the second button on the Switch Assembly within five seconds of the driver's door unlocking will unlock the other three doors. Pressing the third Switch Assembly button within five seconds of the driver's door unlocking will unlock the trunk lid. Pressing the fourth and fifth buttons on the Switch Assembly at the same time will lock all doors and arm the optional Anti-theft System.

All the functions of the Keyless Entry Switch Assembly can also be performed by the handheld transmitter. Pressing the "UNLOCK" button on the transmitter will unlock the driver's door. Pressing the "UNLOCK" button again within five seconds of unlocking the driver's door will unlock the other three doors. Pressing the "TRUNK" button on the transmitter will unlock the trunk. Pressing the "LOCK" button will lock all the doors and arm the optional Anti-theft System. Press the "LOCK" button again within five seconds of locking all doors will sound the vehicle's horn while relocking all doors to confirm that they are locked. The transmitter also has a preson security alarm function. Pressing the "PANIC" button on the transmitter will sound the vehicle's horn and flash the Park Lamps for approximately three minutes.

The Remote/Keyless Entry System also includes an automatic door locking (autolock) function. All doors will lock when the driver's seat is occupied., all door are closed (Door Ajar Switches are open), the Ignition Switch is in RUN, and the shift lever is shifted into or through REVERSE. The autolock feature must be enabled by entering the correct code into the Switch Assembly, depressing and holding the fourth Switch Assembly button, and, while holding the fourth button, depressing and releasing the second Switch Assembly button. Autolock can be disabled by repeating this procedure.

Cars equipped with the Remote/Keyless Entry System do not use a Door Lock/Unlock Relay. Instead, the Keyless Entry Module powers the Door Lock Motors directly using inputs from the Door Lock Switches and other switches.

The Keyless Entry Module has a batter saver function that controls power to all the Courtesy Lamps except the Trunk Lid Lamp. Power is supplied from Fuse 8 to the "BATTERY SAVER INPUT" of the Keyless Entry Module. Whenever the Module receives an input signal, an integrated battery saver relay activates and directs power from the "BATTERY SAVER INPUT," to the 705 (LG/O) circuit at the "BATTERY SAVER OUTPUT," which supplies power to the Courtesy Lamps. The battery saver relay deactivates approximately forty-five minutes after the last input signal to the Keyless Entry Module. When the relay is deactivated, power is removed from the 705 (LG/O) circuit to the Courtesy Lamps.

The Keyless Entry Module also controls the Illuminated Entry System. Pressing any button on the Switch Assembly (or lifting a door handle) will turn on the interior lamps and the door keyhole lamps for about 25 seconds.
