Inflator Solenoid, Level Control

Fig. 20 Air Spring Solenoid Removal:

Removal
The air spring solenoid valve has a two-stage solenoid pressure relief fitting similar to a radiator cap. A clip is first removed and rotation of the solenoid out of the spring will release air from the assembly before the solenoid can be removed.
1. Turn air suspension switch OFF, then raise and support vehicle at body.
2. Remove wheel assembly.
3. Disconnect electrical connector and air line from air spring solenoid, then remove solenoid retaining clip.
4. ROTATE solenoid COUNTERCLOCKWISE to FIRST stop, then PULL OUTWARD to SECOND stop and allow air to bleed from system as shown, Fig. 20.

WARNING: Failure to allow air to fully bleed from system may result in personal injury.

5. ROTATE solenoid COUNTERCLOCKWISE to THIRD stop and remove from air spring assembly.
6. Remove the large O-ring from the solenoid housing.

Installation
1. Check solenoid O-rings for abrasion or cuts. Replace O-rings as required. Lightly grease O-ring area of solenoid and the larger solenoid housing O-ring with Silicone Dielectric Compound.
2. Insert solenoid into air spring end cap and ROTATE CLOCKWISE to the THIRD stop, PUSH into the SECOND stop, then ROTATE CLOCKWISE to the FIRST stop.
3. Install solenoid clip.
4. Inspect wire harness connector and ensure rubber gasket is in place at bottom of connector cavity.
5. Connect the air line and the electrical connector.
6. Refill the air spring(s).
7. Install the wheel and tire assembly.
8. Lower vehicle.
