^ SUSPENSION - REAR - NEW "RAM 5" AIR SUSPENSION MODULE RETAINS FAULT CODES - VEHICLES BUILT AFTER 12/1/90

LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1991 CONTINENTAL

ISSUE: The new "RAM 5" air suspension module does not erase system fault codes stored in the memory when the ignition switch is cycled "ON". Fault codes remain in memory as long as the module micro-processor is powered. This may eventually cause the load leveling system to become inoperative.

ACTION: Erase the fault codes. Turn the ignition switch "OFF" and allow the module to time out or switch the module power "OFF" at the trunk mounted suspension system switch.

If the ignition switch is cycled "ON and OFF" at any time while the micro-processor is powered, the time that the fault codes are retained will be extended beyond the normal 55 minute "time out". The "KEY OFF-KEEP ALIVE" mode timer is reset each time the ignition switch is cycled "ON and OFF" and requires 55 minutes to time out.

Module output functions inhibited by fault codes in memory will not operate as long as fault codes are retained in memory. If one or more output drivers appear to not function, normal module operation can be restored by erasing the fault codes.
