Instrument Cluster - Replacement

Less Electronic Cluster

1. Disable airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove cluster trim cover retaining screws, then the trim cover.
4. Remove lower steering cover retaining screws, then the lower steering cover.
5. Remove lower half of steering column shroud.
6. Remove transmission indicator bracket retaining screw, then disconnect cable loop and bracket pin from steering column. Also remove column bracket from column.
7. Remove cluster retaining screws, then disconnect electrical feed plug from connector and remove cluster assembly.
8. Remove attaching screws from lens and mask assembly.
9. Remove temperature and fuel gauge from cluster.
10. Remove PRNDL retaining screws from speedometer.
11. Remove speedometer.
12. Reverse procedure to install. Rearm airbag as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.

With Electronic Cluster

1. Disable airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Unsnap center molding on righthand and lefthand sides of instrument panel.
4. Remove steering column cover and shroud.
5. Remove knobs from auto dim and auto lamp, if equipped.
6. Remove 13 instrument panel retaining screws, then pull panel out.
7. Move shift lever to 1 position for easier access.
8. Disconnect electrical connectors from warning module, switch module and center panel switches, if equipped.
9. Remove instrument panel.
10. Disconnect electrical connector from front of cluster.
11. Disconnect PRNDL assembly from cluster, by carefully bending bottom tab down and pulling assembly forward.
12. Pull cluster out and disconnect electrical connector.
13. Remove instrument cluster.
14. Reverse procedure to install. Rearm airbag as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
