ISSUE: Speedometers that show higher than actual speeds, or the pointer moves while vehicle is standing still with the engine running, may be caused by a coil wire that is routed too close to the 12A581 wire harness. This causes the coil signal to interfere with the speedometer circuit and results in speedometer inaccuracies.
ACTION: To correct this, reroute the coil wire and 12A581 wire harness using the following service procedure.
Figure 3 - UPPER RADIATOR HOSE & STRAP:
1. Route coil wire along side of upper radiator hose and strap in place, Figure 3.
Figure 4 - AIR INLET TUBE:
2. Route the 12A581 wire harness over the air inlet tube of the engine, Figure 4.
3. Loosen air inlet tube clamps and remove tube.
4. Reroute tube under the 12A581 wire harness and tighten clamps.
