Article No. 88-17-4
LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1988 CONTINENTAL
ISSUE: The oil pressure warning diagram and circuit description for the 1988 Continental is incorrect as published in the 1988 Continental EVTM.
ACTION: If service is required, use the wiring diagrams on pages 19 and 20 of this TSB article. This information should be inserted on page 82 and page 88 of your 1988 Continental EVTM for future reference.

Digital Cluster
A 22 ohm resistor has been added between the C300 connector and the oil pressure switch, Figure 1. The oil pressure switch is wired to the cluster control assembly (CAA) that is housed within the digital cluster and works as follows:
^ Normal pressure closes the switch and the oil pressure gauge on the CCA displays bars into the NORMAL area.
^ Low pressure opens the switch and the oil pressure gauge displays one bar and a flashing oil can symbol.
^ When the CAA sees the harness shorted to ground, it recognizes zero ohms instead of 22 ohms, then the gauge displays diagnostic bars (top two and bottom two bars are lighted).
