TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Inspect The Terminals for Electrical Arcing Damage
1. Remove the alternator terminal-to-alternator wiring harness.
2. With a small screwdriver, depress each terminal tang on the wiring harness and remove the terminals from the connector. Mark wires to insure they are reinstalled in the proper position.
3. Check the terminals for evidence of electrical arcing. If terminals are damaged, replace the terminals using part number D20Z-14474-F.
4. Cheek the terminals by installing terminals on the blade terminals in the alternator. When the detent in the wiring harness terminal is engaged in the blade terminal in the alternator, there should be no play in the terminals. If there is a loose fit between the terminals, proceed to step 5. If the terminals fit tight, re-install them into the connector and proceed with step 6.
5. Using a hand crimp device, gently close both sides of the terminal to close the gap. Reinstall terminal to the alternator to insure they are securely mated. If the terminals are loose, use the crimping device to close the gap further. Continue this procedure until there is a satisfactory fit between the terminals.
6. Install the terminals back into the connector and plug it back into the alternator.
